Whether you’re struggling with major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder or just feeling a sense of hopelessness or emptiness that you can’t shake, we are here to support you.

Our therapists can guide you through your journey toward healing. Depression may leave you feeling isolated, misunderstood, and unable to see a way out, but with the right help, recovery is not only possible—it’s within reach.

Our Approach to Treating Depression

We use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as the primary approaches to treating depression. Both of these therapies are scientifically proven to help reduce depressive symptoms and improve overall emotional well-being.

CBT

CBT helps individuals recognize and challenge negative thought patterns that contribute to feelings of sadness, worthlessness, or hopelessness. People with depression often experience automatic, distorted thoughts, such as "I’m a failure" or "Nothing will ever get better." Through CBT, we work with you to identify these harmful thoughts, challenge their validity, and replace them with healthier, more realistic beliefs. CBT also focuses on behavioral activation, which encourages you to re-engage in activities that once brought you joy or purpose, even when depression has sapped your motivation. By taking small, manageable steps, CBT helps you regain a sense of accomplishment and control over your life.

ACT

ACT complements CBT by focusing on acceptance rather than avoidance. Depression often involves trying to escape or suppress difficult emotions, such as sadness or hopelessness. In ACT, we teach mindfulness techniques that allow you to observe and accept these emotions without becoming overwhelmed by them. ACT also encourages you to clarify your core values—the things that truly matter to you—and take actions aligned with those values, even when depression tries to hold you back. This process builds psychological flexibility, helping you create a life that feels more meaningful and connected, even in the face of emotional pain.

Other Modalities

Sometimes a client has done CBT in the past and found that they are looking for something else. If this is you, let us know! Our experienced clinicians each have specialized training in additional orientations that allow them to be eclectic in their approach. Often we can draw from somatic, expressive, existential, feminist relational and psychodynamic theories to help with depression.

Is Therapy Right for Me?

If you are struggling with depression, you are not alone. Many people feel unsure about seeking therapy, or wonder if it will truly help. We want you to know that therapy works. Whether your depression has been present for a long time or has developed more recently, therapy can provide you with the tools you need to feel better and live a fuller, more engaged life.

At Radiance, we are committed to creating a safe, non-judgmental space where you can talk openly about your experiences, your challenges, and your goals. We understand that taking the first step toward therapy can feel daunting, but we are here to guide you with compassion and support. You deserve a life that feels brighter and more fulfilling, and we are here to help you get there.
