At Radiance, our licensed therapists have spent many years treating eating disorders, anxiety and trauma, and they have all trained at world class treatment facilities like Renfrew, Monte Nido and Nemours Children's Hospital.
Our team is committed to several important principals when it comes to therapy:
1.) Therapy should be enjoyable (at least most of the time!)
2.) Humor is curative and so is your relationship with your therapist
3.) Your therapist should be willing to collaborate with your other care team members, if you have them (like doctors, psychiatrists and nutritionists). If you don’t have them, but you would benefit, they should have the connections to help you build this team.
4.) People DO make full recoveries from eating and anxiety disorders
5.) Health comes in all shapes and sizes
6.) Your therapist should feel like a real person to you that you have a real relationship with
We are all trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Family-Based Therapy. Some of our therapists also have specialized training in trauma, substance abuse, nutrition and pediatrics. All of our therapists are HAES (Health at Every Size) trained or certified. We are an LBGTQIA+ affirming and competent practice.
Often, we take a top down and a bottoms up approach concurrently. Meaning that while we try to get to the root of the issue for lasting change (bottoms up), we also usually work on behavioral changes at the same time (top down) so that people can have the clarity of mind to do the deeper work of therapy.
No matter what, our therapists draw from an eclectic mix of approaches and pride themselves on customizing each client's therapy to meet their unique needs.
