Radiance Therapy Group

Healing Through Compassionate, Weight-Inclusive Care

Radiance Therapy Group is proud to be one of the only outpatient practices in Philadelphia that employs only highly trained eating disorder therapists and can bill Independence Blue Cross (IBX) and Blue Cross/ Blue Shield PPO insurance plans.

At our practice, we understand that struggling with an eating disorder is often about so much more than food. It’s about the deep-rooted beliefs, past experiences, and societal pressures that shape how you view your body and your worth. Whether you’re dealing with anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder (BED), exercise addiction, chronic dieting, body dysmorphia (BDD), or poor body image, we are here to support you with kindness, respect, and a commitment to your healing journey.

We believe that you are the expert on your life—your experiences, your feelings, and your struggles. That’s why we walk alongside you, offering eating disorder counseling that is individualized and tailored to your needs, helping you rediscover peace with food and your body. We recognize that for some, this may be the first time they feel truly seen and heard in their experiences with eating and body image.

If you’re ready to heal, but unsure where to start or what recovery looks like, you are welcome here. And if you’re still uncertain about recovery, we believe there’s always hope for change—and our therapists are here to support you every step of the way.

Our Approach to Eating Disorder Therapy

Our therapy is grounded in Health at Every Size (HAES) principles and a weight-inclusive approach, which means we don’t focus on weight loss or body perfection. Instead, we help you develop a healthier relationship with food and your body, regardless of your size. We offer a non-diet, anti-fatphobia approach that encourages self-compassion and body acceptance, free from societal pressures.

Our team of therapists specializing in eating disorders bring a wealth of experience and training from world-renowned eating disorder treatment facilities—ranging from residential care to intensive outpatient program for eating disorders. This extensive training ensures that we are equipped with the most up-to-date, evidence-based treatment methods to meet your needs. Whether you're looking for help with disordered eating or have been battling a more severe, long-term eating disorder, we are ready to support you on your healing journey.

We primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you break free from the cycle of disordered eating, though if you’ve tried these approaches and are looking for something different let us know. Most of our clinicians have specialized training in orientations outside of these two and can be eclectic.

CBT

CBT helps you recognize and challenge distorted thoughts and beliefs that contribute to maladaptive thinking patterns or behaviors. For example, if you have negative thoughts about food or your body, CBT helps you reframe those beliefs into more realistic and compassionate perspectives. It also teaches practical strategies like developing healthier coping mechanisms and reducing harmful behaviors such as food restriction, binging, or purging.

ACT

ACT encourages you to accept difficult emotions, rather than trying to control or avoid them. With ACT, we focus on helping you build psychological flexibility, so you can approach uncomfortable feelings about food and your body with mindfulness and self-compassion. ACT also emphasizes identifying your core values and taking meaningful steps toward those values—whether that’s developing a more balanced relationship with food, improving your self-esteem, or letting go of harmful societal expectations.

Other Modalities

Sometimes a client has done CBT in the past and found that they are looking for something else. If this is you, let us know! Our experienced clinicians each have specialized training in additional orientations that allow them to be eclectic in their approach. Often we can draw from somatic, existential, feminist relational and psychodynamic theories to help with disordered eating.

Eating Disorders We Treat

We provide specialized therapy for individuals dealing with a variety of eating disorders, including:

We also understand that not everyone who struggles with food or body image issues meets the criteria for a specific eating disorder diagnosis. Many people find that their quality of life is compromised by obsessive thoughts about food, exercise, or their bodies—even if they don’t have a formal diagnosis. If you are struggling with constant preoccupation with food, your weight, or your appearance, therapy can still be incredibly beneficial. You deserve to be supported and can find relief from these challenges with the right care.

We are proud to create a safe, non-judgmental environment where you can feel vulnerable, share your experiences, and process past traumas—especially those tied to food and body image. We don’t take that privilege lightly, and we’re honored to be part of your journey toward healing. If you're seeking an eating disorder therapist in Philadelphia, we invite you to reach out to us. You deserve to be supported, and we’re here to help you find your way back to a life where you can live more freely in your body!
