Therapy for Anxiety

Anxiety is something we all experience at times. Whether it’s the tension before a big presentation, the unease before a social event, or the worry that follows a difficult conversation, anxiety is a natural part of life.

But when anxiety becomes persistent, overwhelming, or starts to interfere with your daily activities, it can feel exhausting and unmanageable. At our practice, we help individuals of all ages learn to cope with and reduce anxiety, empowering them to live a life that’s not dominated by fear or worry.

Anxiety Therapist In Philadelphia

You don’t need to have a formal anxiety disorder to benefit from therapy. If you find yourself regularly feeling anxious—whether it’s about relationships, work, mental health, or the future—therapy can offer the support and tools you need to regain balance.

Whether your anxiety is related to food, weight, or body image, or involves broader life stressors, we are here to help you find lasting relief.

Our Approach to Treating Anxiety

We primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for effective anxiety treatment, however, it is also often helpful to layer in mindfulness and somatic work. These approaches are highly effective in reducing anxious thoughts and behaviors, helping you regain control and build resilience.

CBT

CBT is a well-established, evidence-based approach that focuses on the relationship between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. In the case of anxiety, we help you identify the unrealistic or distorted thoughts that fuel your anxiety (e.g., "Something bad is going to happen," or "I can’t handle this"). Once these patterns are identified, we work together to challenge those thoughts and replace them with more balanced, realistic ones. CBT also emphasizes exposure—gradually confronting the situations that make you anxious in a controlled and supportive way, so you can learn that you are capable of managing your fears and that the anticipated worst-case scenario is often not as threatening as it seems.

ACT

ACT takes a different approach by helping you accept anxiety, rather than trying to fight or eliminate it. The more we try to avoid anxiety, the more it tends to grow. In ACT, we focus on learning how to live with discomfort in a way that doesn't control or limit your life. We use mindfulness and acceptance strategies to help you observe your anxious feelings without judgment or avoidance. Additionally, we help you clarify your core values and focus on actions that align with those values, even in the presence of anxiety. By connecting with what matters most to you, ACT helps you move forward with greater peace and resilience, regardless of the anxious thoughts or feelings that may arise.

Other Approaches

Sometimes a client has done CBT in the past and found that they are looking for something else. If this is you, let us know! Our experienced clinicians each have specialized training in additional orientations that allow them to be eclectic in their approach. Often we can draw from somatic, expressive, existential, feminist relational and psychodynamic theories to help with anxiety.

Anxiety Doesn't Have to Rule Your Life

At our practice, we believe that anxiety is treatable—no matter what it’s related to. Whether your anxiety stems from stress at work, fear of public speaking, or worrying about your future, therapy can help you gain perspective and develop coping strategies that allow you to manage it more effectively. We also understand that anxiety can often intertwine with issues related to food, weight, and body image, and we are here to provide support in these areas as well.

If you find yourself feeling overwhelmed by anxious thoughts or physical symptoms of anxiety (like racing heart, shallow breathing, or tightness), you don’t have to face it alone. We’re here to support you in learning how to manage anxiety, reduce its impact, and feel more grounded in your life. Our anxiety therapy protocol offers personalized support to meet your needs

We create a safe, compassionate space for you to explore your anxiety and work toward a place of greater peace and well-being. You are not defined by your anxiety, and therapy can help you take back control, no matter where it comes from.
